#Adobe camera raw 6.7 installer skin#
Note the way ACR rendered the color of the shirt, hair, and skin tone a bit different. Same NEF converted in ViewNX (on left) and ACR. ACR doesn't always mimic the original Nikon instruction accurately so color rendering and brightness/contrast might suffer/differ some. Doing your big tweaks in ViewNX and then importing the resulting TIFF to your current version of Photoshop saves you money.Īlso note that Photoshop and LightRoom use Adobe Camera RAW (ACR) to convert from NEF. ViewNX lets you build custom picture controls you can use in-camera if you like. ViewNX lets you take advantage of Active D-Lighting if you choose to use it. The RAW file you first open in ViewNX will look nearly exactly like the image you saw on the back of the camera and based your exposure tweaks on. Both are actually pretty good and have some advantages. You do your RAW macro tweaks with the free ViewNX2 or ViewNX-D.
I can get a free converter from Adobe but would I be better using Lightroom or one of the Nikon software solutions or perhaps something else?
I have never investigated any of the Nikon software. What is my best option? I found the RAW to Bridge/Photoshop process worked well. I have a very expensive Adobe Creative Suite CS5.5 installation and cannot afford to pay £600 a year for the latest version of Creative Cloud. Just taken some test shots and discovered that Bridge/Photoshop can't open the RAW files. After 8 years of happily using a D80 I have finally raided the bank and purchased a D7100.
